Time for EVE.

First post in a while now, so this means I got a good few things to talk about this time. (yay)

Last time I blogged we were sticking our heads into lowsec. Blued a few gangs, red a few others. It was fun overall, but the thrills were far and few between. We either spent hours looking for someone we can kill, or spent our time moving around bigger gangs, running for our life basically (damn factional warfare). This went on for about a month. Wasn’t happy with it, I seem to have a short attention span.

My work in RL got busy so I have to spend more hours there, so less time in eve now, boo (yay money!). This more or less shut biel-tan down. We decide it would be best to merge with another corp rather than go our separate ways. Dawood talked to his old corp and they accept us into their ranks.  The corp is in the process of moving to nullsec after a wormhole venture and a bad alliance experience in highsec.

Been in the alliance a few weeks and had a few roams. I have already had a few exciting moments in the great 0.0. There is alliance blues, friendly alliances, corps, and neutrals/reds. The alliance works a NBSI (not Blue - Shoot It), so “if you aren’t on the list you aren’t getting in” attitude. We try to enforce it but we aren’t the biggest fish in this pond. We can make our presence felt though at most I suppose.

“omg, we’re gonna kill him! OVERLOAD OVERLOAD OVERLOAD!!!! --------- Damn he docked.”

I don’t like the hugging the station strategy that I’ve seeing everywhere. It has saved my life a few times, but man is it annoying. Why would a station willing accept a ship into its bay which has incoming missiles into it?! Blegh.

So. Moving on from that, we are now back at highsec after getting our asses kicked in nullsec leading the alliance to collapse. I’ve no regrets about it or anything – I enjoyed the nullsec experience and the little lowsec stuff, but its nice to see traffic again which isn’t going to shoot you.

So, with the Christmas over the consumer horde has calmed down a bit so I am getting more time for eve again (yay). I recently met up with an old friend and went into a wormhole - Killed a few sleepers and left since no one was home.

The corp im with now has a few people who go roaming now and then, so i tag along. Just today i was in lowsec ratting while my CEO was cloaked in a falcon. What we hoped for was someone to appear to try and kill me, and then he will hopefully uncloak in time to save me with his ECM of doom.

The plan worked well, except the guy who attacked me had the same idea, uncloaking was another Falcon. Unfortunately the hostile falcon got the first lock putting our flacon out of action.  Good job though – but strangely we both where able to run away. Yes, I ran away, I’m not losing my ship when i don’t have too. There was no e honour and stuff involved here. We had a “pfff” in local from them, I can understand that they were frustrated, but don’t complain I warp away if you don’t turn on your scrambler.  Reversing the positions I’m sure they would do the same too,

So hopefully I will be able to log on and write more.in the furture. so keep posted

Thanks for reading. See you then.

New Heading: Lowsec.

I will recap to what has been going on the past few days.

I’ve been busy with work so not been online much, so this will be a short update no doubt.
To finish my previous blog, ICOLL has been wardec’d by 2 other corps. Nasty guys from the looks of it, rustles and i check them out on battle clinic and we were like “wow”.  We quickly agree that ICOLL will be destroyed with this, since they struggled with our corp. of mostly 3 – 4 members. These guys have more members and have a much more impressive kill board.

On my last post I said that while the war was officially over I would like to continue the war for the remainder of the week for fun and games, but when I heard the 2 other corps I immediately retracted the war out of pity - ICOLL have enough to worry about without looking out for us too.

Over the next day or two we watch ICOLL swindle in numbers. All their active members seem to be moving on to other corps or just leaving to n00b corps. We actually got a recruit from this, although with my inactivity as of late it may not be the best impression i made. Will not likely have any real time on eve until next week. Noooooo!!!

Plan of action is to scout lowsec for a place to call home. Considering somewhere near the Isoma constellation.

The closing days...

War 1 - Day 15
Good news for ICOLL; War is unofficially over. The renewal fee has been automatically been paid for a 3rd weeks though so will talk to their leaders tonight to see if they want it retracted or a few days more of friendly PvP.

Updates will be added later.

Friendly Games

War 1 – Day 14
2 weeks we have had war with another corp. For me it’s been the best 2 weeks of the game so far.

Me and Andy played cat and mouse a lot today. His drake tries to close the gap on my rupture - No chance. Liam undocks in a executor, MWDing towards me. I think he caps out a few times trying to close the gap. But he gets here. I set drones on him when he’s in range but it warps out when Andy gets in range. I warp to another bookmark making the distance between us 200km.

We had a friendly 1 v 1 with Andy that night. Had a few spectators too, Jon was there, Liam, and a neutral I never paid attention too. Andy’s choice of ship was a caracal, so I switched to EMP weapons. His shields weren’t too bad, took me a little while to get past its peak recharge. One his shields were collapsing though, it dropped easily. I smile when I look at my armour, 97%. :)

Later that evening warp jumper logged on. Was tempted for a 2 v 2 with them, the Brutix I’m sure we could handle, probably take it out before it and the drake take us out. Overall though I’m sure we would lose both our ships of we can’t clear disruptor/scram distance.

2 more hostiles log in. they undock, we got 2 battlecruisers, a frigate, and a blackbird. They appear to be setting themselves up to warp to us when the frigate gets in range, so we try and jump the blackbird. We warp towards them, and are about 20km away. I tell Jon to set drones on him now while he still can, and away they go. 10km out and his shields are more or less gone, and he warps out. I was too far away to scram him still. :(

We warp back to our 200km safe spots and watch them from safety while our shields recharge. They try the same frigate tactic and we move away when we are threatened, looking for a hole we could pounce on.

The blackbird and the frigate pilot log off, and we’ve back to a 2 v 2. Typhoon boy logs on though, but is near Jita. We hang around system waiting for him to get near. He’s in his tech 2 rupture, so we are overall quite manoeuvrable.

Andy and warp jumper dock up and we move to the station. Dawood is a few jumps out now so we go to poke the bear. We are at the station at 0km now. Asking if they want to come out. No joy. This goes on for a little while and Dawood arrives 1 jump from system. I tell him to hold there, they aren’t going to undock of they see him in local, in case he’s got his “typhoon of unholy death”.

We discover that our war targets have gotten sneaky, by either paying neutrals, or by using alts to spy on us. We have noticed king Stevie afk outside stations that we are at when we are at them. We confirmed him as a spy alt when they Andy and warp jumper said Dawood is 1 jump out in his T2 cruiser. Cats out of the bag now, they aren’t going to come out at all me thinks, so Dawood goes shopping while we continue to entice them to come out and play, can still get the Brutix me thinks.

In the end we camped them in station. It is at this time one of my Jon reminds me on an earlier quote from one of my previous blogs:
  • [ 2010.08.18 22:06:05 ] Andy bobo > u guys run while u should chase uss ^^
Patience Andy, soon you will be camped in a station.
We laugh and call it a night, moving to safe zones and log off.

Ugh, a crossroad... which way do i go?

War 1 – Day 13
Our target has been smashed. The goal of 500m in damages has well and truly been achieved, a lot quicker than expected too.

Deaths:        10
ISK Lost:     54,549,897

Kills:        17
ISK Destroyed:     532,808,166

So as far as we are concerned we are done. We can officially retract the war when the contractor gets in touch.

There are a few things that could happen now. We are either offered more money, the contract is closed, or we are offered a new target. Not sure what way the pendulum will swing on this one, as we estimated it would last about 5 weeks, this is currently only going nearly 2. most notably to the addition of Dawood to our ranks which helped deal with a few expensive ships.

We will be refusing a new target regardless. Merc work is a bit boring with all the limitations and such. So last night when we hit the quota we were discussing what to move on too after the war, maybe setting our sights on low-sec to see what that is like. Best way to learn PvP would be to get into a PvP environment, which is null-sec or low-sec.

Loved this war however, as it’s helped us learn how to handle our ships, kit them up, manoeuvring and such. We also been trying a bit of organised fleet stuff as well, working well so far, by keeping our ranks tight. Of course it didn’t start well, people were listening to the wrong instructions and such. Teamwork is key for survival! :D

So yeah, we are now over our quota, will still engage the targets at my leisure however until the war is retracted. It was a drake, gf JaFyx. Not too badly set up, but thanks to the firepower from Dawood’s typhoon we were able to break its shields quickly. Ugly ship, don’t like it, and I’ve been shunned by rustles and Dawood for favoring the tempest over it on team speak, but I admit that it sure packs a punch.

The amount of conversations I had to deal with yesterday after this kill was ridiculous. Had the public channel from icoll, local, and 2 private convos! And team speak on top of this to boot! Was like i was drunk in most convos; “huh?” “Eh?” “What you saying?” “Um... no?”

So, business as usual for the moment. Hope to hear back later tonight as to what we can do.

ps
I probably missed some things that happened, was wrecked when it all happened and is all just a memory now as i thought sleep would help :D

Silly Mistakes

Recap from the days before. Not much I could have done in eve, busy few days with  work, mostly logging on during breaks.

So yes my adoring fans, I will finally update my blog.

We did have a few encounters worth a mention, will start with the oldest.

Day 10:
Rustles, being the social guy he is, abandoned us this day for a drunken day. W00t. With rustles being unavailable I didn’t expect much to happen much since i won’t usually go it alone. Today was fairly inactive from what I was on, changing skills and such during my breaks in work.  When i return from work i hear Dawood is online, so I log in and see what he’s up too.

He’s harassing battleships in a wolf shock horror! I call him crazy and try to save him before he’s dead. I’m 2 jumps out and race towards Ghesis in my slow assed rupture. He said he’s moved into scram the battle cruiser, which he said is a Myrmidon, crazy fool. Frigates vs. that is a no-no!

I’m about to enter system when he tells me to hurry, “yeah yeah, I’m jumping in now”. I warp to Dawood expecting to see a wolf in flames, but no, he’s still got his armour, go him. I lick the myrmidon and scram, drone, web and gun him as much as we can.

The wolf can’t hold up to this abuse much longer and goes pop, leaving me vs. the myrmidon and a newly emerged drake. Was only a matter of time before they came out I suppose. I kiss my Rupture good-bye and repeat the cycles on the myrmidon, hoping for a miracle. Nothing unexpected happened; I went pop with a few percent left on the myrmidons armour. I is a sads :(

We went to get more ships, i went scout this time and headed back. we arrived at their own system now, and i jump through, i am chased out by a drake. We wait by the gate to see who pops through. Mental as the tackle pops his head in. we get bored so before logging for the night i rushed mental hoping to get a kill before his corps jump through. No such luck. He burns away from me faster than i can catch him, which is followed by a scam and web by the battleship fleet which just landed on top of me. 3 losses today, oh noes! i say to Dawood to cut our loses and he falls back, picking your battles is a good skill to learn.

The losses today was all made better through with the news that Dawood took out a hostile battleship earlier. And so the world balances itself out again.would gladly lose an assault frigate, cruiser and destroyer is we killed a battleship everyday. this put us 30m of the 500m target. Didn't think it would be so quick.

Day 11:
Again work kept me away longer than I would have liked. Why can’t I pay my bills with ISK?!

So, I log on and rustles and Dawood are already roaming about somewhere. We form up and try locating the war targets. We go back and forth a few systems before we finally find one, warp jump. We guess he’s on this way to regroup with mental, as he’s coming from Ghesis towards citadel.

We set a course towards his system using the autopilot. This is where mistake number 1 happened. Our autopilot hiccupped and took us around the system he was coming from, so we had to 180 back on ourselves trying to catch him.

We catch up at Niraja or something. He tried to throw us off abit, and it worked to an extent, we didn’t know where he was going, but we knew it wasn’t to a gate. we have eyes on all gates now and see where hes heading. Back to ghesis we assume. We scramble back there as fast as we can. When we arrive no one was in system. Well, no reds.

We head back towards citadel and we meet mentals fleet he’s coming to meet us with. A few battle cruisers and a tackle ship. We wait patiently on the other side of the gate, rustles keeping point in next system. Rustles shouts they are coming and jumps through, and crashes. Yay.

The fleet jumps through and a teos creed breaks gate cloak. We lock and shoot, few follys and hes dead. 1 tackler down. The Brutix is targeted next, but I can’t shoot that far so I try getting closer. The fleet warps out before i get in range. Half way through this however, rustles logs on and comes back to the battlefield in the middle of all the hostile battle cruisers - Bad timing.

This was the end of the engagements for that day, we roam for a bit, but nothing happened.

So i leave you with this:

Sailors Rupture

With time to look at my rupture i noticed its rear end looks a bit like the back of a galley ship, so thought I’d add sails and a steering wheel thing. Looks more like a ship (with afterburners) now.

When you go too far...

War 1 – Day 9
I logged on today, expecting the same thing we got the past few days, us staring at them in their Drakes. While we did get this, what also happened destroyed any remaining respect I had for these corpies. I’m not judging all their members with this, but some of the stuff which has been said is disgraceful.

Before we get onto the juicy gossip, we have created another plan. To combat the ever increasing use of Drakes, and the new escalation of battleships used against us in our war we have begun “Operation Level Up”. The plan will take 2-3 months to properly complete, phase 1 can be completed within a day, but we have agreed to do it right first time, so we expect phase one to be implemented within 2 weeks, depending on how the current situation develops.

We have sourced contacts to make the required equipment for a good price, and also allow us to return to replace equipment when needed. Sounds sweet.

  • [ 2010.08.18 22:06:05 ] Andy bobo > u guys run while u should chase uss ^^
Patience Andy, soon you will be camped in a station.

So, our engagement today was mostly stand offs. We were several hundred km from the gate, and we where aligned away from it, so we basically drifted while we watched them trying to figure out how to get to us. I was impressed once, because I thought they were thinking outside the box with one attempt, but I was quickly corrected, as they warped to the gate at 100km. Ah well.

This went on for a good while before one of them went to get a rifter. The rifter had a MWD installed so was travelling around 3km/s. I tell the fleet to stop the after burners so he could catch us quicker. He get within 30km and we lock, drones, guns and point him. He’s dead within 30 seconds. I was too quick with the fleet warp though as we left our drones behind. No big loss though, only T1 stuff. So, we are in a safe spot now, and who should come into local but their old CEO, our supposed contractor.

Their CEO announces himself on local and the channel erupts with smack talk from our war targets towards their old CEO. I face palm at some of the stuff, comments on this sexual preference, how he’s a coward. Actually ASKING him to war-dec them. Athlon himself states that he has had nothing to do with us war-decing them, that along with our own statement that he is not the contractor still does not seem convince them that he is in fact, not the contractor. Ah well.

Athlon seems to be cool headed in this engagement over local, taking all the smack talk with ease and still appearing civilised, even after comments on his kids. This is a step too far I feel, I can understand people like to smack talk, but there is no need to get personal. Perhaps these guys should remember their own advice of “it’s just a game”.

“Public fights is better than tv”, a bystander on local came out with this comment, very true. I left half way through it, and rustles decided to sit with pop corn and watch the disaster unfold all over local.

When I leave I hear that the conversation takes a downward spiral. Here are a few of my favorite, well, most pathetic, quotes. They are ranked of course:

  1. [ 2010.08.18 22:10:23 ] xXWarpJumperXx > ATHLON, go look after your kids, before the end up like you
  2. [[22:54:29] Ferox Heth > No palistians are cool. They got their country taken off them by the robbing theiving, c**ts that is the jews.
  3. [22:53:37] xXWarpJumperXx > KILL THE JEW!
[22:53:41] Frank Lonehorn > I hate them too
[22:53:46] Ferox Heth > Hitler had one thing right
  4. As athlon leaves local
[22:50:34] xXWarpJumperXx > go get hit by a bus

It is disgraceful comments like these that can lead to a very long war-dec.

Of the entire smack talkers (from our war targets) who were participating, a special mention has to go to andy for keeping within the boundaries of smack talk, good job.

I have censored this a little bit from what the original had (none), to make it appear a bit more civilised. Of course this shameful log is saved, if anyone wants to see the whole unadulterated version send me a mail in game or leave a comment and I will send it to you.
